My richest childhood day-dreams centered on visiting exotic places far away
and running pileups for days. I spent hours and hours listening to Don W9WNV,
Gus W4BPD, Martti OH2BH and many others work their pile-ups; all the time
dreaming of one day sounding like a smooth running machine myself. I still
carry that dream in my heart everyday.

Pileups of great ops that feed fast-fire rates on both CW and Phone are my
lifeblood. I have been lucky enough to gather some contest certificates and
plaques that occupy proud space on my wall including several Top Ten finishes
in a number of different contests.
I am an ARRL Life and Legacy Club member, past President of the Texas DX
Society and served as Editor of the National Contest Journal for a
number of years.
In July 2000, I had the honor of represented the the USA and the
Society of Midwest Contesters as Ralph K9ZO's teammate in Slovenia at
WRTC2000. Martti and the 2004 WRTC Committee in Helsinki appointed me
that event's Ambassador-at-Large, another wonderful experience within the world
of competitive Amateur Radio.
After working almost five years at the ARRL as Sales & Marketing Manager, I move to California in late 2006 to work for Yaesu as Exec VP for North American Sales.
I was licensed as WV6WTD in Costa Mesa, CA, in 1962 at the age of 13.
DXing and contesting immediately caught my interest and I spent way too much
time tuning the bands instead of doing homework. My K7BV callsign comes from
living in Washoe Valley, NV while I was in the fire protection system business. April 2002 I moved to CT to work for the ARRL. September 2006 I had the good fortune to become YAESU's North America Exec VP Amateur Radio Sales Division and
made the move to California...and an apartment...sigh. However, the retirement place has already been purchased - the deal was too good to pass up. It will be a while before I get there, of course, but the home and 6 acres in Turkey, NC (FM04) patiently awaits that day.
